Rosemary Marchetta

I draw. I paint. I Photoshop. Not necessarily in that order. Using a combination of materials and surfaces, I create works that give material form to my inner musings. This deeply personal approach to artmaking produces richly layered images that are at once familiar, almost archetypal, yet unique. Characters from the Secret Alphabet series gaze out from the picture plane without flinching. Scenes from the Constructed Realities series, devoid of people, require a moment of quiet contemplation to be fully grasped.

I come to terms with my interior world through an intuitive process of self-exploration. Images arise unbidden, just below my conscious mind. By delving deeper, I seek out thoughts or emotions that call for expression through form. The form then speaks back to me, bringing understanding and suggesting a new direction of exploration. The images I create are the trails and traces of an introspective process centered on finding answers to the most fundamental human question: Who am I?

My artwork, whether through painting, photography, or digital media, explores a broad range of themes, but my quest is always to express the beauty that is present in all things.
